Cardiovascular Surgeon Who is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Macit Bitargil?

Cardiovascular surgery specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Macit Bitargil is a highly experienced, well-known, and respected surgeon in the scientific community who has participated in numerous operations in Turkey and worldwide, and completed dozens of scientific studies in the fields of adult heart surgeries, aortic aneurysms, leg vascular occlusions, carotid artery diseases, varicose veins, and sclerotherapy (foam) treatments. He has managed hundreds of successful operations in cardiac and vascular surgery.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Macit Bitargil was born in Antakya. He graduated from high school and medical school as the valedictorian. Between 2006 and 2012, he completed his residency at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. His residency thesis received the First Prize in Turkey. After working at Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital for about 7 years, he worked at Mayo Clinic, considered one of the best hospitals in the world in the USA, between 2020-2021. After returning to Turkey, he worked at Acıbadem Healthcare Group between 2022-2024.

Two surgical methods he developed at Mayo Clinic have been published in prestigious scientific journals such as JTCVS and ESC.

In his national and international scientific studies in the field of cardiovascular surgery, Macit Bitargil has an h-index of over 10 and dozens of scientific publications that have received over 380 citations worldwide.

He serves as a scientific reviewer for world-renowned and highly respected medical journals such as Phlebology (one of the most prestigious journals on varicose diseases in the US and UK), Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery (publishing key research on complex cardiac surgery, aortic dissections, and aneurysms), the Turkish Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and the Anatolian Journal of Cardiology. He also holds the Qualification Certificate of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Currently, he provides patient-oriented, innovative, and science-based treatment services at his private clinic named Bitargil in Nişantaşı, Istanbul. In addition, for patients requiring surgical intervention, he has agreements with Acıbadem Hospitals and Liv Hospital.
